concept: nbc’s next tv musical event thing is les miserables live. everyone is expecting the musical. there are already concerns about the length but most people are excited anyway. everyone turns their tv on. a man who looks like victor hugo is sitting alone in what looks suspiciously like a sewer. he opens the book and starts reading. it isn’t the musical. it’s just a guy reading the entire book. sometimes he gets up to drink some water or go to the bathroom and the viewers just stare at his empty chair. it is about two days long. people start to feel like it’s all a dream. why was this called a musical in the ads? people ask. halfway through, george blagden walks in and sings drink with me. he comes back a few hours later and sings i will follow you into the dark. aaron tveit is there. they hold hands. when it’s all over, there is no explanation. the next show just starts. the general public has never been so confused. the fandom is in tears.
