Things I am hoping for in the possibly-happening BBC Les Mis:

Either:

A book-accurate version that pays attention to the book’s underlying themes like changing historical eras and the importance of the personal to the political; the inclusion of and fair attention given to “minor”  characters like Simplice, Mabeuf, and, for that matter, the Amis; some level of care given to showing the atmosphere and physical setting that mean so much in the novel; costumes and casting that actually keep up with the fairly few canon physical descriptions (the COSETTE IS BRUNETTE clause :P)

OR

A completely off the rails AU, costumes grabbed from a back lot, an incredible fascinating disaster that boots off canon characters to bring in more adaptation-specific creations like Valjean’s boyfriend Roger or Courfeyrac’s girlfriend; maybe a magic horse?, total anachronistic technology, plots solved by phone, EVERYONE LIVES WHY NOT

come on, miniseries. Give me accuracy or give me crack.
