i, personally, cannot wait for when bbc les mis comes out, and the fandom collectively rises to make musical edits to the footage despite davies’ insistence that the musical is trash
can’t wait for bbc les mis to come out so I can fucking cry
Things I am hoping for in the possibly-happening BBC Les Mis:
Either:
A book-accurate version that pays attention to the book’s underlying themes like changing historical eras and the importance of the personal to the political; the inclusion of and fair attention given to “minor” characters like Simplice, Mabeuf, and, for that matter, the Amis; some level of care given to showing the atmosphere and physical setting that mean so much in the novel; costumes and casting that actually keep up with the fairly few canon physical descriptions (the COSETTE IS BRUNETTE clause :P)
OR
A completely off the rails AU, costumes grabbed from a back lot, an incredible fascinating disaster that boots off canon characters to bring in more adaptation-specific creations like Valjean’s boyfriend Roger or Courfeyrac’s girlfriend; maybe a magic horse?, total anachronistic technology, plots solved by phone, EVERYONE LIVES WHY NOT
come on, miniseries. Give me accuracy or give me crack.
