sarah I just had a really weird flash into a fic idea where R is the god of love & beauty,,, like how E is usually portrayed in those fics?? I dunno, a role reversal of it seems rlly interesting

sarah-yyy:

I AM HERE FOR THIS

  • People expect the god of love and beauty to be beautiful, but Grantaire lives to be contrary, so his preferred form is decidedly unlike what anyone would expect him to look like – untameable curls, too big forehead, eyes too far apart, crooked nose, a scar across one cheek that he was delighted to receive from Bahorel one time they were play-fighting.
  • The muted shock -always, always– in people’s eyes when they see him for the first time keeps his head straight, reminds him that humankind is not as good as Cosette likes to make them out to be.
  • “Is that him?” people whisper. “Are you sure? He looks nothing like the statues.” Grantaire doesn’t bother striking any of the statues down, he does enjoy beautiful things, after all, and they are all very beautiful.
  • He learns that the statues have all been made to look like Enjolras, who “so beautiful that the god of love must’ve created him in his own image”. He learns that Enjolras hates it, hates being called beautiful even though he undeniably is
  • Out of curiosity, he goes and talks to Enjolras, and surprise surprise, ends up falling in love.
  • “Make me ordinary.” // “You could never be anything but extraordinary. That would not change even if I changed the way you look.”

mermaidmonarch:

I bet mermaids are really great astronomers. I mean, their eyes must be super sensitive to light if they can see underwater, and there’s no place with clearer skies than the open ocean.

What if they found navigational equipment from sunken explorers’ ships and turned the old telescope designs and star charts into something more compatible with their habitat? Optics made of polished sea-glass, extraterrestrial communications systems based on the languages of different sea creatures, etc.

People on land talk about how they know as little about the oceans as they do about outer space, but merfolk already have the seas figured out.

So of course, what are they going to explore next? I think the answer is just as clear as it is awesome.

YES! YES! YES! Next sci-fi/fantasy blend – mermaid spaceships filled with water traveling between the stars.

Yesssss do it do it do it

Somebody do it and tell me; I wanna read this.  😀

Okay but this makes so much sense? Because they’re already used to operating in a basically weightless environment. Would they even notice the lack of gravity when they got to space?

I think the real question here is how would they launch? Combustion engines would be… difficult.

Enjolras doesn’t do the expected thing. Enjolras so rarely does the expected thing.

He rises up on his tiptoes and brushes his lips against the soft skin underneath Grantaire’s eye, then to the eyelid when it flutters closed.

Grantaire is still, barely breathing, as Enjolras tilts his head, switching sides to kiss the side of his nose. It makes his breath huff out in a half-laugh. He feels Enjolras smile, against his cheekbone. He kisses there too.

“Alright?” he whispers, and he’s pulled back slightly, their noses brushing once again. He is right there.

“Yes,” Grantaire says.

Here’s my piece for the @lesmis-bigbang for @seagreeneyes‘ lovely fic Pandemos – the schmoopy and amazing aphrodite!enjolras/hephaistos!grantaire fic we all need in our lives ❤
